Your husband must be down to 2 drinks a day, a quart and a fifth.

“That modicum of compassion gave us 2 more years with her. In my eyes, the ease of abortion might be traced to the ease with which people euthanize pets. If it’s going to disrupt your life, why not just get of it.

That obviously doesn’t apply to an animal that has been severely injured, in pain or very ill beyond medical help. So many of today’s relationships are based upon convenience. “

This was your “used toilet tissue of logic” that I was responding to. I think the truth is just the opposite with people who would condemn those who see to their family’s human needs over those of animals; those are the people who would accept abortion readily and see their fellow humans as trash and easily disposed of.

Sorry about your cat!

My neighbor had to put down his Vizsla last Friday.

The back yard seems too empty and quiet now.

“Red” was a good dog.

I hate when people use the word “lost” when referring to a death.

If you lose your keys, you accept some responsibility for that.
If you lose your car, you accept some responsibility for that.
If a loved one dies through no fault of your own, you are not responsible. You did not lose them. They died.

Someone saying they “lost” their pet makes me want to ask if they need help looking for it.

And you kids get off my lawn.

When my animals have died, I grieved. They are not people, but I do miss them. One dog and two cats in particular. Thank you for you thoughts on this topic. Norski.

“When my animals have died, I grieved. “

It’s one of the reasons I have cats. Cats don’t have family. Cats have staff.

You wanted a problem. You created a problem.

Posts such as yours are not relevant or welcome on threads such as this..

They're just an indication that the poster is wanting some attention in their otherwise lonely life...........Sheesh!

From Twitter:

A man tearfully holds his dog after she passed away from smoke inhalation. The photo was taken shortly after firefighters brought her out of the house.

I have grieved when my pets have died too - I just haven’t let it take over a whole chunk of my life. It is natural to hurt and miss an old friend who gave one years of pleasure - some folks make it the focal point of their whole dang life - have had some use it as their main topic of conversation for many months after the event and that just ain’t normal.

I work hard to be the man my dog thinks I am...
My Malinois just spent 10 minutes licking the neighborhood kids.
The postman is terrified of the dog.
Life is good.
Pupper is 14, 98 in human years.
Every day I know I am lucky...

When my daughter was about 3 years old our beloved Golden Retriever died suddenly.

While my wife and I discussed whether or not to “replace” or to allow her to grieve and work through the process, our daughters mental state, her outlook, demeanor and engagement with us decline in such a way that she was almost completely disconnected from the world around her.

After 5 days we took her to our friend who was breeding Goldens and she picked out a new puppy.

She immediately became reengaged with a renewed sense of optimism and joy that a four year old should have. She has never forgotten her first best friend and when the puppy she picked out passed, it was OK. She learned and experienced loss at an early age more than once. IMHO, as parents, we replaced death with life and the hope for the future.

When my daughter was 12 years old her Grandfather/my Dad passed. Her mother and I were divorced and my ex and I discussed whether or not she should attend the funeral. My ex-wife didn’t think it was a good idea but my daughter demanded that she attend. She was compelled to pay her respects for his life, for me and my family.

Honor.

Honor can’t be taught through books or a formal education. Honor is acquired through experience and being surrounded by caring people that have a love for life.

It’s certainly a tough thing to recognize and overcome.

And you do both because we have no other choice.

Indigo Girls - Closer to Fine

I’m tryin’ to tell you somethin’ ‘bout my life
Maybe give me insight between black and white
And the best thing you’ve ever done for me
Is to help me take my life less seriously
It’s only life after all, yeah
Well darkness has a hunger that’s insatiable
And lightness has a call that’s hard to hear
I wrap my fear around me like a blanket
I sailed my ship of safety ‘til I sank it
I’m crawling on your shores
And I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains
There’s more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive
The closer I am to fine
The closer I am to fine

My brother in Texas, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia and currently going through treatment, is taking his 11 yr. old yellow lab(he's had since a pup)to be put down today...

He has another dog(a little older)that has medical issues also, and as such, will require the same very soon.

(see tag)

...would appreciate keeping him in your prayers, thank you.
