'Demonic possession is real and victims seeking exorcism should not be ignored': Prominent psychiatrist on the world beyond

It is a phenomenon that is on the rise throughout the world: The number of cases of demonic possession - and demands for priests to carry out exorcisms - is, according to multiple sources, soaring.

Medical science remains sceptical. However, a Princeton-and-Yale-educated mainstream psychiatrist believes demonic possession is indeed very real - and claims that the majority of Americans agree with him.

With 25 years experience in a private psychiatric practice and as a professor at New York Medical College and Columbia University, Dr Richard Gallagher has a rare vantage point to observe human behavior. And then there is the inhuman.

Given that scripture talks about demons, I’m going with real.

“...scripture talks about demons...”

Jesus performed exorcism.

His disciples too.

Either they were fakes and we are dupes. Or it is real.

I’m going with “real” also, and not discounting the possibility that Hildebeeste, Barry Benghazi, and their ilk are examples.

Demons are real but the effects of possession are deeply psychological. People who are possessed might not be aware of it and could easily be diagnosed as bipolar (and I’m not saying that bipolar disorder is always related to demonic possession). You can dull the mind to such a state through drugs that the effects of the hostile presence are almost nullified. A far better cure is to bring the person into contact with bible believing Christians and it will soon manifest and can be cast out.

Of course it is real. Jesus encountered people who were possessed and He performed exorcisms.

Geeze. People believe in theories like global warming as if they are religion. And people read garbage novels like dan brown’s wacky stuff

But many refuse to read the Bible. They wont pick up and read four books of the Gospel. Or Acts

Demonic possession is in there.

Through the centuries demonic possession has been changed into mental illnes. Probably because people didn’t believe but they KNEW something was going on.

Mark 16: 17 . . .” And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils, . . .”

Derek Prince, Win Worley, and Stephen Micah Bell all did this (Bell is still on this earth and working, the others passed on) and you can see them do so on Youtube videos. You can do it yourself if you are a born-again Christian.

Omegaman Radio also has some very good ones. You can even download a 160 -page self-help manual on this subject, it is very effective. Also explains about things other than “possession” or “oppression” (more common) that bother you and how to nullify or break them.

A really wild one is “Win Worley Mass Deliverance”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsVLs89YkVA
Note: This one is very good, but if you are not a Christian, do not follow along and cast “demons” out of yourself. The Bible warns against this. “The end will be worse than the beginning.”

No, I was joking. I doubt Rachel Ray would be weighing in on this one.

My Catholic girlfriend was bipolar and was forever avoiding her meds. On one distraught occasion, she went to her priest for help, and he told her she was under some kind of spiritual assault. It was funny how the demons went away when she resumed her meds.
