As for MMA, it's a recent enough development I figured it might die out. But the same objections hold true there. Especially for the "women's" version. Appalling.
Football? That's hardly a blood sport, although it tends to appeal to the same latent urge for violence, as long as it's vicarious.
None of these should be regulated or outlawed or censored. It's up to the participants and the observers to practice or watch those activities. But it hardly speaks well of our civilization when that is what we consider entertainment.
And I don't understand the compassion some people have for animals while lacking the same concern for people.
