Park officials said the climbers had been attempting to climb the Freeblast Route, according to a post on the Mariposa Gazettes Facebook page.
Authorities withheld the identities of the climbers pending notification of next of kin. The investigation was ongoing.
Saturdays incident came nearly two weeks after a hiker fell to his death while ascending the Half Dome trail during thunderstorm activity, officials said.

Ok, thanks. Never Kirk climbing in Yosemite before.
Unless there’s a pot of gold, a beautiful set of twins or a wizard who will grant me my wildest desires...I’m not risking my life for “the thrill of it”.
I’ll make an arduous journey or trek or climb but give me something I can hold in my hand at the end for it.

What are you afraid of........ a loose rock with your name on it? (I am. And my high school friends will testify that I wasn’t one to shy away from doing dangerous things.)
**I must lack the gene.**
That, or you prefer not to splatter the genes you already have on the valley floor.
Luckily I’m retired because I get vertigo trying to roll out of bed in the morning and it’s a futon.
Enough death and carnage on that violent mountain. And it’s so accessible! CA politicians should demand bolder shaped large air bags be installed at the bottom of El Capitan
“One more reason to fear heights ping!”
Don’t need a reason.:-)
I was with a granddaughter today who was telling me what fun it was to stand on the skydeck at the Sears Tower——I couldn’t even look at the pics.

I was visiting Yosemite Valley last year and there was a lot of commotion the morning I arrived — they were recovering the bodies of two wingsuit jumpers — one of them was the famous Dean Potter.
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. It got panned as probably the ‘worst’ of the Trek movie films (akin to the ST: Insurrection, which sucked swamp water), but, like everything else in hindsight, it had its charms. Shatner wrote and directed it, and surprisingly, all the cast agreed that he was very pleasant to work with, as they were expecting an egomaniac to horsewhip them. One of Shatner’s big beefs (and I have to agree with him here) is that the studio didn’t give him the SFX budget he needed to pull it off properly. This came out the same time that Next Generation was on the air, and TNG’s SFX were better than what the studio conjured up for The Shat. The overall storyline was TV scripted hokum, IMHO, but there were some good scenes and subplots buried in there that made it for good watching. It’s not on the same level as The Wrath of Khan or First Contact, but it’s better than the critics would lead you to believe. A good, rainy Saturday night movie to watch.
I know one guy who failed to make it around the last leg or face of EC. He succeeded 5 years later. Hes a surfing buddy of mine near the PCH. His climbing buddy broke his leg and was hanging off the east ledge, and he had to go back for him.
><
That’s for sure. The EC is almost as tough as the DR.
I know that from when I lived near the ARD.
Ill bet they were libs
Get high on endorphins and adrenalin...give euphoric and high awareness mental changes...strong reinforcers of behaviour..pain and fear be damned!
I hope that was a parasail in his backpack.
I hitchhiked through France with a female alpiniste and learned a lot from her. They just love the challenge. If there were an elevator on the other side of the mountain to get to the top, theyd still choose to climb up the cliffs on that side. I have total respect but its not for me. And I adore heights. I just dont like that kind of risk.
As long as they don’t have kids, no problem.
