Maybe you didn't see Episodes II and III, but Hayden Christensen was so, so much worse than Mark Hamill. He single-handedly ruined those films with his cringe-inducingly bad performance. I can confidently state I would have done a better job, and I suck at acting.
I never understood the casting of Hayden Christensen. He was a wiry whiny petulant teenager who suddenly became the hugely powerful and manly man villain known as Darth Vader-—the transition just wasn’t credible, not even close.
The so-called love scenes between Christensen and Natalie Portman were just the worst. The dialogues in these scenes were eye-rolling DUMB and deserving of giant barf bags.
Any prop chair on Broadway could have given a less wooden performance than Hayden. It was torture sitting through that wreck.
Word.
How on earth did Hayden Christensen ever even land such a major Star Wars role? Is he George Lucas' nephew or something?
I had to look him up, but I have to agree. He was chosen because he’s a pretty boy, not because of acting talent.
I consider Mark Hamill a very GOOD actor. He can say more with facial expressions than most can with dialog. And damned beautiful IMO. Christensen is simply dreadful; more wooden than a lumberyard-zero screen appeal. Of course, the atrocious screenplays and dialog didn’t help.
