My understanding is the British were still inspecting American shipping because there were still Americans trying to smuggle in slave ships despite the prohibition against the slave trade. I believe we saw a reference to a successful landing in Alabama not long ago, but if not here somewhere recently.

Both the British and American Southerners will soon have much bigger problems to address.
