Nah. People who live alone communicate by phone, email, direct interface etc. My family is all spread out, but I talk to them more now than when we all lived in the same town.

I expect in another generation, AI robots will allow people to live in their own homes rather than a nursing home.

Not exactly. “In the United States, approximately 42.6 million adults aged over 45 reported suffering from chronic loneliness in a major 2010 study by the AARP.”

And, “ Britain has appointed a “minister for loneliness” to overcome what Prime ... as one in ten people felt lonely “always or often” and that hundreds of thousands of elderly people hadn’t spoken to a friend or relative in the past month.”
