I had a close family member get pulled over for a minor traffic violation. He was 19, a university student, and had a case of unopened beer in the car on the way to a party (and dont even bother with the self righteous indignation unless you NEVER had a drink until you were 21). They booked him for illegal possession of alcohol. When they were processing him at the station he rode the elevator with a cop who was a foot talller than him and outweighed him by 150 lbs. In the elevator the cop pushes him up against the wall, and starts saying Why are you resisting! Why are you trying to take my gun! The family member said Im not resisting, and I dont want your gun. He said it looked like the cop was going to hit him when the elevator opened and there were other people suddenly watching.
True but I would like to hear the rest of the story before deeming them bad cops.
Being polite and respectful when dealing with law enforcement goes a long way. During my interactions with police over the years, I've gotten away with speeding, running stop signs, even with an open beer container in my car, all because I knew to be polite, respectful and keep my mouth shut. Even this young woman conceded in the article that they were willing to let her walk away (even though she was underage and had alcohol).
But then she decided to mouth off. Couldn't just walk away and get on with her weekend, could she?
