A 21-month-old girl whose mother was killed while crossing a boulevard in Florida during an illegal street race has died, police said.
The girl, Lillia Raubenolt, was being pushed in a stroller by her mother, Jessica Raubenolt, of Jeromesville, Ohio, across Bayshore Boulevard near West Knights Avenue in Tampa early Wednesday when they were mowed down by a black Ford Mustang that police said had been racing side by side on the roadway against a gold Nissan.
Witnesses told the Tampa Bay Times the two cars reached speeds as high as 60 mph, but investigators were unable to confirm that. Other people on the scene also reported hearing the Mustangs engine purr loudly just prior to the deadly crash.
Police announced Lillias death late Thursday, one day after Raubenolt was pronounced dead at Tampa General Hospital. The young mother and daughter were on vacation and took a walk along the busy roadway after days of rain, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Raubenolts uncle, John Reisinger, said he forgave the three men facing charges in the fatal crash, including both drivers and a passenger in the Mustang.
Were praying for those young boys and their families, John Reisinger told the newspaper. We hope that something good will come of this foolish accident. Thats what Jessie would want.
Raubenolt was remembered as a devoted mother who married her husband, David, in 2016 after meeting him while studying nutrition at Kent State University. Raubenolt was visiting Florida prior to the crash so her husband could get certified in Pompano Beach as a single-engine airplane pilot, according to the newspaper.

Shame on the dummies!
God bless Jessica - lift her up and give her strength.
Looks like they have a combined IQ in the low 200s. And racing cars that got up to 60 miles an hour? They should have stuck to video games.
In any event, they should be popular in prison. Ten years should be enough to send a message.
Florida is quite tough on multiple murderers
Lately I've seen ATVs, sometimes a dozen at a time in broad daylight, racing on I-95 in downtown Jacksonville in blatant and complete defiance of pretty much every motorized vehicle law out there.

If a Mustang is running as high as 60, he isn’t racing.
>>And racing cars that got up to 60 miles an hour?
LOL
I don’t live in Jax anymore, but where are you talking about? West side?
Wow, those three look like a real brain trust. [eyeroll]
To be fair, if you start at zero...
They might have spun out shifting gears.
Yeah, that was kind of a weird statement. It obviously was too high for conditions, but 60 on the street isn’t racing, that’s commuting. The author says it like it was a million or something.

In South Florida it’s a Martin Luther King Jr. holiday tradition.

I think you overestimate by at least 2X.
From left to right: 45 (smart one in the bunch); 40; 15.
Left has crazy eyes.

If you ever cause a fatal accident going 60 in a 40 zone good luck telling the judge you were just commuting.

To be fair, if any two cars start out from a stop light together and one goes faster than the other, I guess you could call it a race.
Every street race I’ve been in started at zero.
It’s easy to lose control in the first couple gears.
Moncreif Park. North downtown. They'll hop on the interstate on the Golfair on-ramp, race south for a couple of miles and then exit by the big post office north of the I-10 split, where they disappear into the "not good" neighborhoods.
What do you think they called it racing for?
Pigs trying to keep the White man down, or kids were racing from a stop?
