NBA Western Conference Playoffs: Chris Paul out for Game 6 with hamstring injury

Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul will miss Saturday's Game 6 of the Western Conference finals at Golden State with a right hamstring strain, the team announced Friday.

Paul will travel with the Rockets to Oakland, California, for the game, coach Mike D'Antoni said, and will be re-evaluated after the team returns to Houston.

"It's obviously not something we wanted," D'Antoni said before Friday's practice. "I hate it for him above all. He's practically won us the past two games. But it's a great opportunity for other guys, and we have plenty to choose from. We'll be ready."

Asked if there was a chance Paul could return for a potential Game 7, D'Antoni said, "I don't know."

Paul exited Houston's 98-94 Game 5 win on Thursday in the final minute and received extensive postgame treatment, leaving the Toyota Center around midnight.

D'Antoni said Eric Gordon will start in Paul's place. Gordon averaged 21.5 points and 3.4 assists in 30 games as a fill-in starter this season.

"It will not change anything we do and how we do it," D'Antoni said, though he noted the rotation could expand to eight or nine players.

A bit of an understatement...

Too bad for Houston. Thy play about 7 guys and are now down to 6 and Paul is crucial to them winning. Harden hasn’t been playing that great in this series...it’s all on him closing this out

Can’t see the Rockets closing out Golden State without him.

The NBA still exists? I thought they quit playing basketball years ago to devote more time to their sneaker contracts...

Actually it’s pretty good basketball. More open and up and down fast play. Now I do like the 80s - 90s Ball where it was rough and tumble but right now is very good basketball minus it being Cleveland and Golden State all the time and they still don’t call traveling but I don’t think they’ve called traveling in about 40 years

Hopefully he can rest up and be there for game 7 back at home. I am rooting for Houston now after Steve Kerr’s latest lunacy.

I was a huge fan of basketball as a kid during the 70s and 80s. Now it’s all about steroids, lazy dopers, social justice crap, and they don’t really play team ball anymore either. It also isn’t diverse....there basically are no white players in the league. It’s just pure thug ball.

But I digress, I hate just about every sport these days for those types of reasons and more. The obnoxious hype of sports also is just so retarded and phoney.

Sorry to thread shit. I’ll leave...
