A man is dead and another was taken to Harborview Medical Center on Saturday afternoon after a highly unusual fatal mountain lion attack near North Bend east of Seattle in the Cascades... The mountain lion was tracked and killed.

SO? And 40 people will be shot in Chicago this weekend. Which is more serious news?
This one is about a mountain lion.
Your FR link is about a cougar.
Cougars are thought to be more fun.
We took the kids to a wildlife refuge that had some cougars. We followed the owner as he feed them. He took a couple of frozen chickens and tossed them over the fence. The sound of those two cougars chomping down on what was essentially the same size as a human head - that REALLY gave me the creeps. I can still hear the crunch.
here’s an idea, DON’T GO WHERE MOUNTAIN LIONS LIVE!
Because of HUMAN STUPIDITY the Lion was tracked down and killed? Why? HE / SHE was doing what WILD animals do.
Stuff like this just pi$$es$ me off.
I don’t want to be around sharks soooo I don’t go swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.
Now, if you had a documentary on cougars up at their Northside watering holes... That might be considered FR Clickbait.
Southside? Would a black cougar be called a panther?
When mountain lion were extirpated from their former range it was “unusual” for attacks simply because they didn’t exist. Anybody tells you it is unusual for a mountain lion to attack humans is misinformed. We humans may not be their first choice, but this notion that it’s somehow rare is nonsense. Again, it is rare to be attacked if there aren’t any around, but that’s not quite the same thing is it?
I recall reading of a deadly attack from a couple years ago and the article actually said “authorities are searching for a motive for the attack”. This is the idiocy normal people have to deal with these days.
The liberals in Washington banned the use of dogs to hunt cougars/ mountain lions a long time ago. They have eaten most of the animals that is a normal part of their diet.
Cougars have no natural predators, so the population has grown far beyond sustainability.
Not trying to be hateful, but I hope these two were liberals who supported the ban n the use of dogs in hunting cougars.
Going in to Cougar Country unarmed. At least they should have taken hunting knives.
Abandoning their partner. They should have put up an united front against the lion. Defending each other both might have survived.
First one ran then the other. The first to run died.
I really enjoyed the picture of the cougar on the other FR thread. Being so old that I CAN outrun the cougars interested in me is depressing. A roller blader or bicycle rider has to look a lot like the red dot from a laser pointer to a mountain lion. My cats love the damn red dot. But I dont run from them either. But they know I carry all the time. They are cats not stupid. The mountain lion is the largest of the feline that purr. I dont know if cougars do or not, Id like to say I do but never got that close to rub the cougars belly.
That’s easy for you to say. Mountain lions live all around me. Never seen one though.
Another reason to carry firearms.
When I was a kid I read a lot of Bambi propaganda portraying the Mountain Lion as a shy animal avoiding humans... never attacking them etc right... O am sure this is not as rare as they say it is
You are absolutely right. 22lr shoot the rider your with or if hiking the person you re hiking with in the tire or foot it depends ya know? If the hiker or rider youre with is your significant other kiss her/him goodbye before leaving the car in the parking lot. Then peddle/run like hell. Do not let the other person borrow your 22.
Cats have a pursuit mechanism. If they see movement, they leap. Bikers and joggers make yummy targets.
Wow, some really stupid comments on this thread.
Do you know anything about the area? I do. Stfu.
Wow, some really stupid comments on this thread.
Difficult for all of us to be above the average.
All the fun ones went to the cougar thread, mountain lion threads, not so much.
