Yes, he’s had two pretty tough races in two weeks.
However, horses with early speed, which of course he has plenty of, tend to do very well at the marathon distances. Most Belmont winners came from just off the early pace or went wire to wire. This despite the misconception that late runners do better at long distances like 1-1/2 mile.
the last 5 Belmonts of the Triple Crown winners were won going wire to wire....Smith will send him to lead early..he usually rates beautifully..and if hes truly a Champion, they wont catch him. But..i hope he doesnt try and run the “perfect” off the pace trip. Smarty Jones..Big Brown etc all tried that..didnt work.
