With the actress' father missing the royal wedding on Saturday, Prince Charles, the father of groom Prince Harry, will walk Meghan Markle down the aisle. Markle "has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle," Kensington Palace said Friday. It added that Markle's future father-in-law "is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to the Royal Family in this way."

They bring millions and millions of tourist dollars into the country. As someone who has witnessed some of their rituals (the opening of Parliament in November, the Queen’s Christmas speech, the wreath placing at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day) I can tell you that most people would be very sad to see them go. The only people who hate the royals are left wing nutcases and foreigners who just don’t get it. I get that you don’t get it but, on the other hand, it is not your country.

I guess their belief was that old Charles would like being sucked up to like that. But it seems offensive to her relatives—which presumably is what she is about.

Why does anyone need to walk her down the aisle? She has been married before. Why can’t she walk alone, preceded by her attendants, flower girls or pages?
I’m surprised Harry and Markle didn’t opt to dance down the aisle together to some hip music as has been trendy recently.
