I don’t think that is possible. It comes out to about $250 a day in overtime, 365 days a year for 4 years.

This is a local unit of government in Chicago. Anything is possible.

A guy told me about a DEC technician, after-hours, on call, for in-house problems. Got paid extra for each time he had to go in.
One weekend, power problems or the like his a server farm, and he gets called in. Only fixes what's on the call, even though he can see that other machines are down.
Goes down the street to a bar, and has a beer, waiting for next group to notice their equipment is down, etc., ...ka-ching, ...ka-ching...
I'm not surprised at Metra. Probably multi unions involved, not to mention featherbedding, and "scheduling" problems adding the hours.

Janitors on San Francisco’s BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) have gotten over $270K a year in one year with overtime added in (about $160K of that is overtime).

Undoubtedly a lot of abuse, but I bet a lot of the overtime is justified.
Probably less than 1 out of 10 mechanics know what they are doing and the rest are unqualified but got their jobs through "inclusion" policies.
All the challenging repair work probably falls on the few guys that have the skills, and have to put in a lot of overtime.
