My mon and dad left a communist country, late in their lives, and started from nothing here so we boys could have freedom.
When I was a kid I was embarrassed by our poverty and our immigrant ways. I’m glad I had them long enough for me to realize what a gift God gave me!
Hear, hear!!!!
A friend married a Chinese woman who was living in South Vietnam with her parents and siblings when it fell to the Vietcong. He literally went from a well to do businessman to homeless overnight. She remembers living beneath a house when she was small. They eventually escaped to a refugee camp somewhere and after living there for 18 months, they were allowed to immigrate to the US. They were put on welfare, given food stamps and government housing and for the first time in his life, her father was ashamed of himself. He and his wife both worked multiple menial jobs and were out of public housing and off the government dole in one month. We welcome those who seek freedom like your parents.
