Trans/Frigate withdrawn from US Association.

The German Navy has surprisingly had to pull off the frigate "Hesse" from an American carrier association. Reason is the launch of combat missions of the aircraft of the carrier "Harry S. Truman" against targets in Syria and Iraq. For the fight against terror, the German navy lacks a mandate.

Rostock The problem for the "Hessians" is in the Bundestag mandate for the fight against the Islamic State under point 8. There is clearly stated that the use of German forces in the context of sustainable anti-terrorism in Syria and Iraq through the operation "Inherent Resolve" over Iraq and Syria must be done. In concrete terms, only the tornados and tank aircraft of the Luftwaffe are allowed to participate in the operations against the Islamists.

The use of a frigate of the Navy in the protection of the aircraft carrier, however, naturally takes place in the waters of the Mediterranean. Therefore, the naval command Rostock had to inform the commander of the US carrier association and deduct the frigate "Hesse" from the US combat group for the weekend. "There is no mandate for the operation of the navy in the operation, which is why the frigate 'Hessen' is now subordinate to the NATO operation Sea Guardian until further notice," said a spokesman for the naval command.

Training support for the Coast Guard The frigate "Hessen" and the approximately 200 soldiers are now supporting the Dutch multi-purpose vessel "Karel Doorman" as well as frigates from Italy and Turkey during patrols off the North African coast as part of Operation Sea Guardian. The training support for the Coast Guard of Libya is part of the mission.

The US Navy has responded to the short-term failure immediately. The US Navy brought the destroyer "Farragut" after a visit to Gdansk on 1 May from the Baltic Sea back to the Mediterranean.

So the Germans, the Turks, the Dutch and the Italians (all NATO members) have decided to go elsewhere in the Med.

“Allies”. We need to tighten up our lexicon with regards to what “Ally” means.

Strange coincidence that their separation comes on the heels of crashing the ridiculous JCPOA (”Iran deal”).

Tools.
