When the great depression hit Roosevelt got on TV, sitting by the fire, telling people not to give in to fear.The Fireside Chats were over the radio. TV came later, and didn't penetrate homes to any significant degree until after WW II, after FDR had died.

Re: post 210...we didn’t have TV when Roosevelt was president. Maybe he did a weekly report on the News Reels at the theater? Hard to admit, but I was there when FDR was pres.
