So why has nobody yet planned to bring these “refugees” to the U.S. for treatment?

Do they not call them aboriginal people or aborigines any longer?

Although an interesting and informative article regarding this virus and its impact, it never once address HOW the virus came from the mummy to the people—which is the expectation of how its worded. If they meant how it spread to each other or that it has spread is another. But they never get from mummy to how it was transmitted and even acquired in present day.

It’s been a while since the AIDS virus was called HTLV-III. Longer still since AIDS was called GRID.

Is it me or did the title just change on this? I read several times and double checked and it was titled (paraphrase) How this disease spread from the mummy to the people (basically.) I checked and checked. Then I posted and checked again and the title is nothing like that. Either my head is still foggy from being sick or the title changed. :)

Call it Clintoniteist.

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread172390/pg1

When Juanita was displayed at the National Geographic Society in Washington in 1996, President Bill Clinton joked that she was so attractive, "If I were a single man, I might ask that mummy out."

Kind of a misleading headline. They make it sound like these Australian aborigines caught this virus directly from Peruvian mummies. The case, rather, seems to be that they are experiencing a virus that is is also found in Peruvian mummies.

...A Virus Called HTLV-1 From 1500-Year-Old Mummies Infected 40 Percent of Adults In Rural Australia

Maybe it should have read:

...A Virus Called HTLV-1 which infects 40 Percent of Adults In Rural Australia is also be found in 1500-Year-Old South American Mummies

I also found it curious how they can’t figure out how a sexually transmitted disease got so prevalent. UH DUUUUH. This is also how the AIDs virus spread. When it involves sex as the way to transmit—like anything, it spreads like wild fire across countries and nations. Now if it was transmitted through reading books—not so much. The there might be questions.

A disease that’s related to HIV and they claim they don’t know what causes it. Gee, I could hazard a guess.

That cinches it.

Aborigines should not have sex with Andean mummies.

Was Bubba anywhere near a mummy? When viewing one he said: “That’s a good-looking mummy I would date.”

Another disease for the promiscuous to spread so we can pay for treatment....paranoid alert...paranoid alert...ya think the media and healthcare industry and big pharma want to stimulate others to higher sexual activity and subsequently get STD’s so they can make money off of treatment?

In the South Pacific islands of Melanesia and Borneo, there is a retrovirus that works very much like HIV, and is called “Kuru” or the “shaking sickness”.

It has been traced to the practice of the ceremonial eating of a deceased relatives brains.

This may or may not be related, but it has a ring of similarity based upon the location, and ethnic origins of the people involved.

Of course, I wouldn’t want to be “judgemental” of indigenous religious or cultural practices....it just rang a bell.

If, indeed this were the origin of this pathogen, it would be considered very culturally insensitive and politically incorrect to even mention it!
