4 imprisoned: they were not innocent men, only innocent of the specific charges. I believe any prosecutor would use their discretion to keep bad men from doing bad things again.
I think that the two are only tangentially related through the Boston mafia.

That's slippery. It's as saying a prostitute is in prison on the specific charges BUT its OK because she has done other illegal acts. NO, I don't see your point. Sorry. These men had rights on the charges they were in prison for and not another charge made up to justify their deaths or such.
