I read that Blimps were a Newspaper slag. One called Blimp A failed and Blimp B was the replacement.

And they want to use hydrogen to power big trucks.

But I see that use as very practical to our environment. Hydrogen, like other renewable energies such as wind and solar, are free and do not require other contaminating energy sources to create it. /s/

Easy. You just get a divider device and fill your tank with H2O and the divider device pulls the H2 out and you just got some O left.

Hydrogen was cheap to produce and helium was very expensive.
The original design called for using helium. At the time the world’s helium supply was owned by the United States. The U.S. Navy had control of all helium in the U.S for it’s own dirigible program.

Interesting tidbit:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindenburg_disaster

The last surviving passenger is Werner G. Doehner (b. 1928), a retired electrical engineer who was an eight-year-old child traveling with his parents, brother, and sister at the time of the accident. His father and sister died in the disaster.[22]

The number one song for May 6, 1937. I occasionally post this tune on FR in threads about whiners.

The Hindenburg also wrapped its hydrogen up in fabric painted with what amounted to gunpowder (nitrocellose dope). The argument can be made that, in some ways, hydrogen is less dangerous than petroleum. Hydrogen flames go up fast and it doesn’t stick to things and burn. The same can’t be said of gasoline or diesel fuel.

I see your sense of logic.

Go go a little further, it’s also quite safe. When hydrogen burns, it reforms with oxygen and creates water. Therefore, the fire is self extinguishing. Very safe.

Same goes in the engine combustion chamber. Funnel that new water from the exhaust back into the fuel tank, and we have perpetual motion. It’s all clean, cheap and environmentally friendly.

Isn’t it great to think like rocket scientists? Or should I say climate scientists?

Limp as in not rigid like Zeppelins.
