If they had a cockier spaniel instead of a pit the kid wouldn’t had his face mauled.

A Big word if, if a frog had wings he would kick his ass every-time he hopped. If there weren’t any bit bulls a cocker spaniel biting a kid might just make the news once every 2-3 years when and if it happen. but the cocker would of bit and that’s it and the kid would be treated and released with no need of facial surgery.

Yeah, but the kid would have been humiliated after the Cocker destroyed him in a round of chess or scrabble...

Mom's assertion that the dog nearly tore the kid's eye out is refuted by the 4 stitches required to fix the kid. If you consider that "facial surgery," fine. I think any medium to large breed dog could puncture a kids eye socket.

I was in a dog pack attack situation with my dog some years back. Two standard poodles, two pits, a lab, and two rat dogs ran away from their owner and surrounded us. The two poodles were the worst aggressors, making brief contact. The pits hung back about ten feet to see what developed.
