I’ve been too far behind to participate in the lovely company of geniuses the past week and have almost caught up today.
BUT! I have to vent to someone NOW! (Home alone) and it pertains to some discussion on the previous thread about working at elections.
Just received a call from a candidate for state rep I have been campaigning for. I am such a DOPE!!! He asked if I’d mind being a poll watcher. I’m happy to do that. I’ve worked everything from poll watcher to election judge in the past 40 years. I settled down and married my husband 8 yrs ago. He lived across the county line and I’m in new districts for everything. 2010 election everything was new, I made the best attempt I could to get involved but found a pretty closed clannish community. Kinda like the one I came from, didnt think much about it. Several times over the past 8 yrs I’ve made overtures toward the local tea party and pubbie women’s group. Ladies are imitation junior leaguers (no offense to any of you who are) but I am far from a junior league lady. Many things in life have gone on and its just never clicked that I fit into local politics the way I did in my old home. But, I’ve still made attempts.
The State Rep we had was a rino to the core. Tried to get him unseated last time. Any of you in Texas will recognize the obvious when I say he was one of Joe Strauss’ #1 lackeys. Something has convinced that rep to retire. We’re down to a run-off between 2 men who have not held any public office before. The definite deciding point in which guy to choose is that Joe Stauss has contributed to the one I’m NOT backing.
When I got the call a few minutes ago asking if I’d be a poll watcher it turned out that MY PRECINCT is one of those where they most need watchers. Ok, we aren’t some big city precinct, we are IN THE STICKS. Much like the precinct I lived in before marrying and moving here so things started clicking in my mind. Twice I have tried to attend the precinct convention after the polls closed. First time, in 2012, they told me the conventions had already been held because our primary was so late in the season. Next time in 2014, iirc, I arrived at about 7:05-7:08 and the polling place was locked up tight, no cars in the parking lot, no lights. I had a toddler grandbaby with me that week and was caught up in the kiddo and neved pursued why protocol (law) was not followed for that year’s precinct convention.
Only now am I realizing that I’m living in a freaking crooked precinct!
And, yes, I am poll watching. And I am mad as an old wet hen. Both at myself for not following thru when I happened to run into obvious irregularity and at these rino jerks in this little piss ant area for not following the law and possibly skewing elections!
/vent — but still angry
PLEASE, EVERYONE, (yes, I’m yelling) get involved if you are able. Working elections, especially as a poll watcher, is a thankless job. But we need to do this, we even owe it to POTUS DJT for the heavy burden he’s under to go another step past constant prayer and work to make all our legal voices counted. Please.

I would add that if you’re going to be a poll watcher or any sort of election worker, you need to have a SPINE and not be afraid to speak up. You also should keep your camera/recorder handy (wherever and whenever it’s legal to do so) and DOCUMENT EVERYTHING that might be suspicious.
My Mom - nice little old lady - just goes along with anything the liberals do. She is too “nice” to say anything. She is very proud of being involved but totally useless as a deterrent against cheating leftists. (But afterwards she will call me up and complain about what she thinks they might have been doing.) Fortunately this year I have made her unavailable and she isn’t going to do it. I’m hoping this is permanent.

You stand strong and report irregularities to the party and SOS. Clicks are common and some of these Republicans are recycled Democrats who switched sides to stay in power. However, both sides are humans and prone to being closed off to those they think might shake things up. If you have tried to be nice and helpful and kind they shouldn’t be threatened. So if they are acting that way they may be up to something.
