Michael Anderson, the British filmmaker who directed the 1956 Oscar Best Picture winner "Around the World in 80 Days," died on April 25 at age 98, the Times of London reported. In a storied career that spanned decades, Anderson also won acclaim for the 1955 WWII film "The Dam Busters" as well as 1976's influential sci-fi movie "Logan's Run," about a dystopian future in which everyone is killed off when they reach the age of 30.

I just recently watched Logan's Run on cable recently. The other movies mentioned are wonderful too. Envious he had an opportunity to spend time with Jenny Augger.

I had read Logan’s Run prior to the movie and the only things the movie and book had in common was that his name was Logan and her name was Jessica.

Dam Busters, an excellent true-to-history war movie seldom seen since the main character, played by Michael Redgrave, is seen calling his black labrador retriever by its true to life given name of "N/@@&r". If only the script had read "Here boy, Here boy" instead.

The Searchers is one of the best films of all time and it wasn’t even nominated.
