LGBT Victimhood Propaganda on Hulu's Handmaid's Tale

Hulu's drama series Handmaid's Tale has garnered critical acclaim and has won dozens of awards including Best Drama Series at the Emmys and Golden Globes. According to liberals, the show is supposed to reflect "Trump's America." With the novel having been covered completely in season 1, the writers have turned "Gilead" into the dystopian nightmare that the left claims Trump and Pence want for our country in season 2.

One character in particular has been written as a victim of homophobia, with every imaginable tragedy happening to her. The character Emily (played by Gilmore Girls' Alexis Bledel) has had the following happen to her:

Season 1:

-The government discovered that Emily (known by her Handmaid name of "Ofglen") is a lesbian. She and her partner are arrested, forced to wear Hannibal Lecter style masks and are transported via a van to an unknown destination. When they arrive, Emily watches as her partner is executed (she is hanged) in front of her. She is spared because she is still fertile.

-Later on, she awakens to discover that she has undergone FGM. She lets out a scream in horror.

-In the fifth episode, she attempts to escape and is arrested. She is not seen for the rest of the season.

Season 2:

-Emily is revealed to have been sent to the "Colonies," a radioactive nuclear waste camp where "unwomen" are sent to work until they die of radiation poisoning.

-In the second episode, there is a flashback to Emily's past. We discover she was a college professor. First she is asked to take a leave of absence due to her being a member of the LGBT community. Later on, we see Emily try to flee to Canada with her son, and Canadian wife. At the checkpoint, she is denied entry. Her marriage is now annulled and she is not allowed to go with her family to Canada. She and her wife are heartbroken and say their goodbyes. She stays behind to become a handmaid.

Emily's character endures nothing but heartbreak and torture, and the audience is meant to feel pity. This is how the left portrays a world in which a "right wing extremist" government has taken over. This is what the left imagines "Trump and Pence's" America to be.

The show is actually very well made. Production values including cinematography, production design, costumes and editing are excellent and the acting is outstanding. But the Emily storyline is nothing short of manipulative propaganda.

Saw that coming a mile away. The only way I'd watch a single minute:

I watched the 1990 film. It was ok if I remember right. It had Robert Devull and Faye Dunaway so of course I watched it.

Kinda sad that the liberals are so demented that any of the weirdness you describe has anything to do with the Trump administration.

People who are that detached from reality really should not vote.

Alex: No. No! NO! Stop it! Stop it, please! I beg you! This is sin! This is sin! This is sin! It's a sin, it's a sin, it's a sin!

Dr. Brodsky: Sin? What's all this about sin?

Alex: That! Using Ludwig van like that! He did no harm to anyone. Beethoven just wrote music!

Dr. Brodsky: Are you referring to the background score?

The Nazis, the communists, almost every evil group in the past began by portraying themselves as victims. Every victim needs a villain, either real or imaginary. It also allows them to do things they otherwise would not be able to. Today it might be “He wouldn’t bake me a cake”. Tomorrow, “his life is not worthy of living”.

Ping to the manipulation of people by creating victim hood propaganda.

The stupid show is the opposite of how things are, but since it promotes a pro-gay pro-abortion agenda, it will win awards.

The more victimized they can portray Group A, the more villainous they can portray Group B, providing a pretext for draconian action against Group B.

In real life, critics of homosexuality face fines, loss of jobs, and loss of income; gays use women as baby machines; and Democrats oppose laws banning female genital mutilation.

Yeah exactly. It’s amazing how they got it backwards on this show.

Nailed it. The irony is so lost on the stupid left.

I heard several liberals talking about how timely “Handmaid’s Tale” is, how accurate it is.
I said she was right except about one thing. Eyes on me. “She was only wrong on the faith. So this is happening in the real world in 2017, but it is Islam, not Christianity that did it.”

Could it really be as bad as what happened to her in real life?

She married Pete Campbell.

Having to play Rory Gilmore must also have been quite an ordeal.

Haha, great points! I never liked him on Mad Men, and Rory Gilmore was irritating at times too.
