On Tuesday night, First Lady Melania and President Donald Trump hosted their first state dinner, welcoming the President and First Lady of France, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron.
Following First Lady etiquette, Melania wore a gown designed by a French fashion house, making her state dinner debut in a glittering custom-made Chanel gown with sheer embellished paneling falling from the bottom hem and decorating the neckline.
It seems Trump may have taken inspiration from the gown Michelle Obama wore for her first state dinner in 2009a strapless crème-colored Naeem Khan frock with metallic detailing. While Michelles first state dinner was for India, not France, the femininity and youthful shimmer of her red carpet-worthy gown do seem to be mirrored in Melanias silver dress.
This isnt the first time Melania has taken a sartorial cue from her stylish predecessorbut honestly, who can blame her? Michelle Obama is the G.O.A.T. of White House couture.

InStyle's Towering Intellect, Isabel Jones. Is the ink still wet on her diploma?
I seriously doubt that.
Feminity and youthful shimmer?
Maybe English is this writer's second language???
Not even close, honey.
Ping.
Barf alert.
I haven't rolled my eyes this much since my last demonic possession.
Isabel Jones is clearly insane.
where do they come up with this stuff!
At least we didn’t have to pay for FLOTUS45 dress.
It seems like the writer took her inspiration from a rock.
I’m positive Melania goes through all those magazines for clues about what Michael wore at state functions
Yes, Michael Obama IS the Goat for White House fashion and elegance.
She doesn’t even look old enough to be out of high school yet!
This is the second, or third time, that the press has implied that Melania is “copying” michelle Obama.
Michelle can’t stay in the same room as Melania when it comes to grace, style, class, and manners. Michelle is a micrometer above ghetto.
This is all about sustaining the Obamas for their base who still can’t let go of the past, nor great the future. And of course not grant our First Lady her rightful and clearly deserved place as America’s First Lady......
Oh yeah, twin dresses. /s
Poor thing is too vision impaired to be a fashion writer.
I hope while the fashion and women’s magazines continue to fail to cover Melania, they go out of business. Same for snubbers of Pres. Trump and his family.
