That was when America was still America. Don couldn’t roast Sammy Davis the way he did anymore. All the humor now seems to be filthy mouthed democrats badmouthing all we hold near and dear.

Nipsy and Flip were totally mocking themselves and Bob Hope. I can’t remember their lines, but they were very clever. Nipsy Russell was a funny guy, no a very witty guy.

There was some joke about how Bob Hope wouldn’t let Flip play in his Desert Classic cause he was Black.. or something.

You’re right, Rickles was reckless. I don’t think Rickles was naturally funny like others. His craft developed over time.

There’s an underground Friar’s Roast of Rickles, that is absolutely hilarious. Johnny Carson by far the best roaster.
