Woman fined $500 for saving free airplane snack from Delta
A Colorado woman is facing a $500 fine from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for saving a free apple she received as a snack from Delta Air Lines on her way back to the United States from Paris, France.
Crystal Tadlock told Fox 31 Denver, toward the end of her flight from Paris, flight attendants passed out apples in plastic bags as a snack. Tadlock put the fruit in her carry-on to save for when she was hungry during the second leg of her trip.
Once Tadlock arrived in the US, she went through Customs and her bag was chosen to be randomly searched, Fox 31 reported. Tadlock says a Customs agent pulled out the apple in the plastic bag with Deltas logo on it.

US Customs employs some of the meanest nastiest shyts that you can find anywhere in govt. The epitome of the arrogant uncaring little Hitlers.
And people wonder why I refer to this example as one of many hundreds of reasons why cwii just needs to be done.
My guess is that she made a scene.
bureaucrap
Actually she was fined for lying to customs about carrying ag product
Everyone knows you have to dump fruit etc or declare it when you arrive from overseas
Feeling up passengers. Making them take shoes off. Putting all contents of pockets in a tray. Banning bottles of water. Xraying. Video surveillance. Making old nuns strip.
All the while allowing muzzies on planes. They really don’t want to keep us safe. They do want to beat us into submission.
“Actually she was fined for lying to customs about carrying ag product.”
Exactly
I agree. It’s not great secret that bringing in agricultural products from abroad is a no-no unless certain restrictions are met. There are very, very good reasons for this.
I used to wonder how hitler got people to kill for him.
I can EASILY see some of these nasty little democrat tyrants being happy to kill conservatives.
When I was returning with my family from Mexico, the customs agent said to me: "You are an asshole."
"What did you say?" I asked, flabbergasted.
He repeated it.
I waited quietly until my family and I had cleared customs. Then I asked to see the supervisor. I told him what had happened. He was polite and asked who the agent was. I couldn't find him. He said that he thought he knew who it was, and that that agent had left for the day.
"Is it your policy to speak to people like that?" I asked.
"No," he said. "You don't have to put up with that kind of treatment."
I said nothing more, but was thinking to myself: "Apparently I do."
I related this to a relative who was a flight attendant for many years. She said: "Yes, these people are terrible. I was with another flight attendant who brought back a large amount of coffee from South America. The customs agent slashed every bag and let all the coffee just pour onto the floor."
"Why did he do that?" I asked.
"Just because he could," she replied. "They don't have to answer to anyone."
The kind of protections that the Federal Government gives to Federal Employees encourages this kind of sadism. And astonishingly, millions of Americans actually want to increase the power and authority of people like this.
I would agree had she brought AG products from Europe, but she did not. She had fruit given to her from the airline, which had already passed inspection. The situation could have been resolved by simply tossing the offending apple. Neither side conceded.
you just walked up and he cursed you out???
I had to eat several pounds of peaches, blueberries and bananas at the Canadian traffic border.
Because I didn’t lie.
I was wondering about that. Did the apple originate in the United States or Europe?
Apparently I was standing in a place that was off limits, though I didn't know it. Either it wasn't marked, or I didn't see any sign. I was waiting with my wife and children to clear customs. The customs agent told me to move. I said something like, why can't I just stand here? He said: "Because you're an asshole." So I moved. I still don't understand what I was doing wrong, but he was just that vulgar and nasty. I knew not to argue with him or register offense, because we still had to clear customs, and I knew what they could do to my family and me. But as soon as we cleared customs, I asked to speak to the supervisor.
Headline is misleading. She’s not being fined for saving a snack, she is being fined for not declaring that she was carrying fruit into the country from overseas, which everyone is warned about when they come into the country.
