This is a pretty cool video about one of (if not) THE last print photographers still working.

"...landscape photographer..."

Agreed, it is much better photographed in landscape rather than in portrait.

I scan my 4"x5" negatives that I develop in my tub. There are lots of us out there. Examples include:

AND

Gargantuan is my style (actually, forgot how to size here .....)

I have an entire darkroom of enlarger and printing equipment in my attic that I got for free last month. I should be up and printing within the year.

There are lots of us still!

I’m guessing the top photo of the fishing (spearing?) platforms are fairly recent. I’m guessing that is on an Indian Reservation somewhere? Really nice photos - thanks for sharing!

First shot is Sherars Falls, Deschutes River, Oregon, October 2017. Those are Indian fishing platforms.

Second shot is Golden Gate Park, SF, CA, April 2018 two weeks ago.

I would have digitized the 8 x 10 negatives into huge files. These negatives have a huge dynamic range and that is captured when you digitize them. Playing with shadow detail, contrast and color then becomes a matter of playing with the image on a monitor.

Thanks! I live in the PNW, and those photos of the fishing platforms look like something you might find at a wayside road stop talking about the native history from 150 years ago! I knew they still did it, but figured they would have upgraded their platforms by now! (If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.)

I also do outdoor photography (macro since I’m in suburbia) and feel as he does about sharing God’s creation, but I get peace knowing that the magnitude of each little miracle will go on without me and it is God Himself speaking to every human about Himself.

Today I was watching the clouds and thought about God moving molecules to create an image knowing when I would be out looking up. Always feel that way when I see a shooting star. Saw a BIG one in Feb.

Cr*p. The dude is using Cibachrome paper.

If you’ve seen it, you’ll know what I mean. That stuff is nearly magic, it is so good.

I have some cibacrome prints that are more than 30 years old. They look fantastic. Used to work in a commercial darkroom full time. Souped so many prints. It was bad in the winter, go to work in the dark, work in the dark, drive home in the dark.
