Even when she was only in her 50s, my mother would say to us, her daughters, that she would come back to haunt us if we ever put her in a nursing home. My sisters and I chuckle about that now.
We are glad that we took turns taking care of her in her final years. We had about 3 years, as well, with her. She passed about 6 weeks before her 95th birthday. It will be 11 years on the 1st of next month. Miss her still.

That is true—many of the people I met when my mom was ill had big hearts. But they were understaffed and paid next to nothing for what they had to do.
