Thre was a guy years ago. Appeared to have a mental disorder. Walk always sitting on the edge of a busy street in a nearby town.

Once in (rare) awhile, was able to get some food to the guy. He always said “Thanks” and “Appreciate it”.

One day as I got out of the car, some idiot in a black Jeep Cherokee drives by, rolls down his window and yells “Get a job!”. And it was late fall, too. So it was very cold out.

Haven’t seen that guy in about 3 years. Don’t know if he’s alive or dead.

I think of the Rich Man and Lazarus as quoted above. If one has food to eat, and a place to sleep, one may be more well off than a lot of people in this world.

You never know who may cross your path. It just may be an angel from the Lord.

I have one story where a guy simply disappeared (along with his stuff) in less than about 3 minutes. Someone else remarked, “Where did he go?”. Is it possible somebody came and got him and picked up all his scattered stuff with him while I was turning the car around? Indeed.

Actually have a couple of stories like that (including that one).

Good story. I'm reminded that any one of us could have our comforts removed in the blink of an eye, for a myriad of reasons from disaster, to bad luck. I'm grateful to God for every day that I have food to eat, and a warm safe place to sleep, and loved ones near by.

And all of us only have a tenuous grasp upon whatever health we have, including mental health. A stroke, or dementia, or an accident could leave us impaired. We humans are mortal, and ultimately very fragile.
