I have a very expensive pressure cooker we bought when we were boaters. I don’t see the advantage to an Instant Pot over a pressure cooker other than it’s a stovetop vs. electric power. What am I missing?

I’ve never used any other pressure cooker - I was always afraid of them. The Instant Pot is electronic and programmable in all sorts of ways. If you’re used to pressure cooking, it might not seem special to you. For people who have never used one, it’s very easy to figure out and play with.

Instant Pot Ultra I can set it for a specific temp and it will hold it. I can Sous Vide cook with it. The ribeye I am eating right now is Edge to Edge medium-rare. Completely programmable, and for someone like me it is push button simple. I don’t want to have to spend that much time in the kitchen.

I’ve been using a pressure cooker regularly for 30 years and I do not need another kitchen gadget. Still I’m fighting the urge to get an Instant Pot!
