Red Sparrow (Novel/Movie)

It tells the story of a Russian intelligence officer who is sent to make contact with a CIA agent in the hope of discovering the identity of a mole.

Is the President trying to find or expose a mole?

McCain perhaps? (wild guess but he's the hawk in all our Middle East conflicts).

You beat me to it.
The story Red Sparrow was written by ex CIA agent Jason Matthews. The story takes place in the present in one familiar location—Langley—and four overseas ones—Moscow, Helsinki, Rome, and Athens. They host a classic confrontation, pitting the CIA against the Russian intelligence service, the SVR. At stake are both the hidden identities and thus the lives of each service’s highest ranking penetrations

I think the movie reference is off the mark.

Sparrows = missiles.

This should be obvious now.

Sparrows Red (not Red Sparrow, movie ref) means missiles ready to fire.

I think the Russian agent was a female trained to use sex to compromise the CIA agent - Honeypot - Oh didn’t Q mention something about HONEYPOTS a few days ago. Was in context of FB / Twitter though.

Red Sparrow (Novel/Movie)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This is a VERY GOOD MOVIE. It is not Cold War era, but contemporary Russian.

The woman (Jennifer Lawrence)is forced into service as a Russian spy (honeypot); and who is turned; and in the end returns to Moscow as a mole (American agent). Part of the story is that the Russians are holding her mother hostage to make sure she follows their orders.

Very deep plot.
