A Mount Joy Township woman is the Pennsylvania Turnpikes biggest scofflaw, having racked up nearly $92,000 in unpaid tolls and fees for trips between the Harrisburg East and Mechanicsburg interchanges, according to a criminal complaint.
The toll for E-ZPass users who make the 11-mile trip is $1.74, but Lori Yearick allegedly failed to pay any toll more than 1,600 times between January 2012 and March 2017.
Yearick, 45, is scheduled to go before a Dauphin County Common Pleas judge next Tuesday on a felony charge of theft of services, said Ray Morrow, the turnpikes chief of compliance.
Its kind of hard to fight these charges, he said. We have pictures of her driving through each time.
Yearick allegedly failed to pay about $26,000 in tolls. The turnpike also is seeking violation fees totaling $66,000, the complaint says.
Her lawyer, Edward Spreha Jr. of Harrisburg, did not return requests for comment Wednesday.

Highway robbery !!!!
.
$1.74 x 1600 = $2,784.00
I fail to see how she racked up $26,000 in tolls.
Entitlement - Never paying for shit.
I'm no math wiz, but $1.74 x 1,600 = $2,784. Where do they get $26,000??
That’s about $48 per day for every single day of a five-year, three month period. That’s about 27 trips per day. Does she most of her waking hours driving up and down that one stretch of road?
Never mind. Most of the charges are late fees and penalties... ...duh.
Good point.
Pennsylvania bills for the maximum toll when you don’t have an EZ pass or a ticket, or lose your ticket. So you have to pay for the Ohio border to the Top of the Northeast extension by the New York Border even if you only go 6 miles.
“I’m no math wiz, but $1.74 x 1,600 = $2,784. “
That would be the EZ pass charge. She had no EZ pass.
Toll roads discriminate against the poor.(and therefore by extension, minorities, gays, disabled, children and women and any other group that needs to feel special)
Guess I will stay out of that state...
I have ezpass and live in PA. There is a savings, but not 90% or anything close to that (unfortunately!)
Ohio border to Clarks Summit (NE ext) is $65 for a passenger car paying cash. THAT’s criminal!
In Georgia they took down the toll booth on Georgia 400 once the road was paid for like they said they would . Didn’t think they would but they did. Once the debt that the toll are used to pay are paid off then its the motorists that are getting extorted.
er, admin fee ...
Not to be a nudge, but the violation fees totaling $66,000 were a separate charge.
The tolls are $26K...the penalties are $66K...they want 92k overall.
Does the EZ Pass tell where you got on? It must - otherwise it wouldn’t know how much to charge. Maybe she got on in a ticket lane and got off in an EZ Pass lane?
I was thinking that in the old days of cardboard tickets, if you lost your ticket you had to pay the maximum toll to that exit.
Another thought: They used to timestamp your cardboard ticket. I had heard (not sure if it’s true) that if your average speed grossly exceeded the posted limit they would give you a speeding ticket as well.
