If only Michael Mann could “adjust” real temperatures the way he adjusted them on his infamous “hockey stick” graph that formed the key argument of Al Gore’s scaremongering hit movie, An Inconvenient Truth. But instead of “The end of snow” (New York Times, 2014), Britain has gotten hit with a long and very cold winter.
The tabloid Daily Star sensationalizes the cold snap with “studies” that come up with the figure of 48,000 “excess” deaths blamed in the cold snap. Quite frankly, one can concoct all sorts of studies to “prove” or “demonstrate” all sorts of dubious propositions. So, I am not really endorsing the number of fatalities from the cold that are claimed.
But the fun fact is that the warmist doomsayers are once again shown to be full of hot air.

If it’s not a European heatwave killing their geezers, it’s European cold spells. It’s just open season on geezers in the EU. The UK as a society takes cr@ppy care of its OAPs. And that’s not the fault if bloody “global warming”.
Remember the European heatwave back in 2003? That killed tens of thousands of people, mostly elderly. If most of the dead in this case are elderly, a death toll this high doesn’t surprise me.
Oh, don’t get me started on the conditions in state-run facilities for the elderly there. Or on the cost of fuel for old folks on a shoestring budget. Nobody’s suggesting that there are human popsicles piling up, at least so far, but if exposure to temps colder than is healthy for people is causing increased numbers to fall ill and die, then I’d call it cold-related. Especially if most of the dead are elderly.
I DON’T blame the weather, however. I blame the families who are able to care for them and don’t, and society for failing the rest.
Socialism blaming its death toll on the seasons.
Global Warming on Free Republic here, here and here
48,000 killed by cold in England and 20,000 by heat in France.
Good thing thing I live in the United States.
.
Frozen to death by Global Warming!
.
.
You’re in the groove!!!!
.
It’s more likely that the NHS is killing them, than the cold.
Of course it is the fault of AGW! If they weren't spending so much, both money & jobs, to "mitigate" Global Warming, they could afford to take better care of the OAPs.
instead the UK feels the same cold as other areas at the same latitude (like Toronto, Chicago) feel.
