I wondered how Q and his team know so many movies along with all the other information he has. Makes sense they read spy novels along with their other interests.

Many WRITE those novels/scripts or are the expert sources for others.

See Steve Pieczenik (love him or hate him). He wrote for Clancy’s thriller factory and is known to be the real life model for Jack Ryan.

Think about writing a thriller. How do you achieve verisimilitude without having the real life experiences? Those who try from the outside end up seeming shallow and clunky.

This is why Q has to be a team with some members well-versed in military/intelligence operations. Too many experienced people out there in the real world would immediately pick up on a faker...it’s almost impossible to keep up with jargon, hardware, the truth behind historical ops, knowledge of how chain of command really works, authenticity.

Whomever they are, it’s not some LARPer.
