Yep...DuckDuckGo.
>>The worlds most private search engine.<<
I used to use startpage but it returns the same results as Google, which are now under-useful.
duckduckgo so far looks great.
>>”Netscape?”

Tell me you’re joking there.<<
Yes — Mosaic is the ONLY way to go!
so far that is proving to be GREAT.
Thanks to you and so many!
DuckDuckGo works for me.
I use duckduckgo.com exclusively.

Phhht! I find all the info and answers I need on Compuserve! Though I might try that new fangled AOL thing people been talkin’ about.
Try UUSENET — you might need UUENCOCE/UUDECODE which you can get using Gopher.
Here is what I learned today about search engines
A site called Startpage uses Google’s algorithms. But is a private way to search the net. It had a sister site Ixquick that used non Google algorithms but it now redirects to Startpage.
Duck Duck Go does not use Google, but it uses Bing mostly. It is also private.
Yandex is also not using Google.
The top alternatives not using Google are
Bing
DuckDuckGo
Yahoo! Search
Wolfram Alpha
Yandex
Dogpile
Ask.com
Gibiru
Metacrawler
Other sites to try are
Yippy
Qwant
Searx
Disconnect Search
Gigablast
CC Search
Bubblehunt
YaCy
Ecosia
Excite
Deeperweb
