German army rolls out line of maternity uniforms for pregnant troops after successful field tests

Germany's military is rolling out a line of maternity uniforms for pregnant soldiers following successful field tests last year.

Germany's defense ministry says some 80 volunteers tested a range of uniforms as well as underwear and tights, and their feedback will be considered.

It said 'our goal in the end is to buy uniforms that best meet the requirements of the users.'

For the most part I’m sure that’s true. I know the Brits started combat unit gender-integration around when we did — the last male-only units will have to open the ranks to girls by the end of this year. The Scandinavians have had mixed combat troops for years — and we all know how everybody quakes with fear when the Danish army gets its boots on the ground!

The Israelis are the only country I can think of that integrated female troops in to their combat units with few if any issues. I’m certainly no expert, but I have never read or heard anything negative about the abilities of the Israeli women who serve.

Maybe it’s as simple as maintaining the same physical and psychological requirements regardless of sex.

It was a disaster, and they rolled it back. There are now only 2 battalions that I know of, the Caracels and one other, that are gender-integrated "combat" units, and they're actually border guards. I'm sure their operations can get alot spicier than those of most nations' border guards, but they wouldn,t be deployed to war as frontline troops unless something has changed since the situation was described to me. When people refer to "thousands" of women serving in combat roles in the IDF, all if not most of those women are in those 2 battalions, which aren't "really" combat troops.

IIRC, the Israelis reviewed gender integration again a couple of years ago and canned it again. The primary question was whether to open combat armor to women, and the IDF declined to do so.

You are correct. I read that when they had women in their combat units, unit cohesion dropped and the morale suffered. Plus unit efficiency dropped to roughly 40 percent and casualties rose because the men were concerned about protecting the women.

What I object to most is men like Mattis, who have in the past spoken out against this insanity, refusing to say a word or lift a finger against it now that they have the ability to do something about it.
