The Danish personal registration number, commonly referred to as the CPR number, reached the milestone of 50 years since its introduction on Monday.
But the future of the personal numbers, which are assigned to everyone registered as living in Denmark, may be more far-reaching than during their first half-century, according to an analyst.
I think that, in the future, we will see an extra register that also contains peoples identity on digital media, and that it will be linked to the CPR number, said Copenhagen Business School professor and researcher in public IT systems Kim Normann Andersen.
The government will be very concerned with this due to the potential for lawbreaking in the digital universe, Andersen said.
That change would likely be made without much public dissent, he added.

I cannot even imagine thinking something like that, never mind actually saying it.
In Sweden, PersonNumbers are common knowledge. I believe even available on government databases accessible by the public. The number is your birth day, month, year - and your birth in order of everyone who was born on that day. (If you were the thirteenth kid born on Jan 1, 2000 your number is roughly 0101200000013.)
It would be very very easy to append that number to yourFacebook record by the company. Especially if youve already given them your birthdate so they can remind all your friends!
It wouldnt take any effort at all!!!
Really?
Or maybe it was South Park highlighting the dangers of Denmark and the internet?
Where’s the editor:
Is it?:
“The Danish personal registration number, commonly referred to as the CPR number, reached the milestone of 50 years since its introduction on Monday. “
Or is it (my view)?:
On Monday, the Danish personal registration number, commonly referred to as the CPR number, reached the milestone of 50 years since its introduction.
I think my version avoids the possible misleading idea that the CPR number had its introduction on Monday.
Maybe they ran the Ritzau article through Google Translate.
