Truth? Who’s truth? Who will I believe? Not sure. Who all has been in on it and who is just like me a dupe?

Following is deeply cynical:
Everyone is a dupe to some degree. Even some of the active perpetrators (media/tech) were/are only chess pieces. Some lied to. Some lied to themselves. Some compliant because of threats/fears/impotence. Some compliant and willfully blinded by greed.
Hard to discount peer pressure. Hard to act within a miasma of artfully woven spin. Easier to default to living one’s own life, shrinking the perimeter, going along for the sake of peace and continued existence.
As I’ve asked before: how does the past get restored? By whom? By what mechanism?
Answer: it doesn’t. We live out our individual lives knowing we know very little for sure. Maybe not even what we see IRL with our own eyes, especially if we view it at one remove on a monitor. But even personal experiences have to be questioned unless we alone in a deserted landscape and even then, doubts will intrude because we may be victims of advanced tech capable of illusion.
We need to know what DARPA, et al, has accomplished, as well as what they are attempting.
I have posted that the Q crumb:”You’ll be so surprised to learn who’s been talking to you” could be a taunt and it is possible the persona is not on our side nor benign.
Trust no one but yourself and verify everything as much as possible.
Lots harder to swallow than the red pill, but that is my take at the moment.
That line has been bothering me as well. Is it benevolent or not. Is it a threat? Or more of a taunt? Are we living the "Matrix" or "The Truman Show"?
Maybe I spend to much time thinking about things. I think about whether it is a blessing or a curse to be curious. Is it a blessing or a curse to think about things? Would it be a better life to just work, eat and sleep and just live in the moment, never giving any thought to anything more that the next thing to do, eat, drink.
I have known people like that. Are they happier? Who is happier(if that really is a thing), the smart, the dull or the sheeple?
A liberal leaning Sister once told me to keep things simple. I apparently don't have the ability to do that.
It is wise to keep one foot out of the cart and on safe ground. Truly wise. That way, when you have verified a truth to your own satisfaction, the level of proof is sufficient and you are free to believe.
This holds especially so for each new individual piece of information, as well as the general concept. HOWEEVER, keep in mind that, as proofs and truth pile up, it becomes easier to believe things with lower levels of evidence as trust is established and foundational truths support the new.

reformedliberal, - I just finished writing a post/note to defconw and in it I spoke of abject cynicism. The next step along those lines of thinking usually has one eventually becoming fatalistic. Not such a good place to be.
With the movie “The Matrix” and the TV show “Lost” we the observers are asked to believe “That the Dream is Reality.” Very refutable.
What we all need to remember is that we, all of us, don’t have as much control as we think we do. What we do is do our utmost with the time we have. We don’t ever give up and we realize that God is ultimately in charge. Each of us have the honor of writing our parts of God’s story of His Creation.
