Following the massive ratings for the premiere of the Roseanne revival on ABC, the network has renewed the series for next season, which will be the classic sitcoms 11th overall. Sources say the order is for 13 episodes, up from 9 in the current first installment of the revival. You can watch a video of the renewal announcement below the post.
Were thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes, said Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment. The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We cant wait to see what the Roseanne team has in store for next year.
Roseanne Barr ✔ @therealroseanne I just got the call-thank u ABC! Thank you, Roseanne Show family (including fans) B'aruch Hashem. #DAYENU 2:07 PM - Mar 30, 2018
As Deadline previously reported, ABC had been laying the groundwork for a second season of its Roseanne revival in the weeks leading to its March 27 debut, and cast deals for a second season in the 10-13-episode range had been made ahead of the premiere.
Following huge Live+same ratings 18.2 million viewers and a 5.2 rating in adults 18-49, the Roseanne premiere continues to deliver extraordinary numbers. With just one day of Nielsens delayed viewing counted, the hourlong debut saw its total viewer count grow by a best of season for any premiere telecast of over +3.4 million viewers to a 21.869 million average audience. After the first day of playback, Roseanne shot up to a 6.24 rating in Adults 18-49, adding more than 1.0 rating point and over 20% to its Adult 18-49 Live + Same Day number.

The massive ratings success stunned Hollywood, prompting soul-searching about doing more series that realistically portray the economic problems of working-class families and reflect conservative political views as well as talk about rebooting more beloved sitcoms.
Roseanne, featuring the complete original cast, new series regulars and returning guest stars, explores life, death and everything in between through the relatable, hilarious and brutally honest lens of the Conner household.
The Carsey-Werner Television-produced sitcom stars Barr as Roseanne Conner, John Goodman as Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris, Lecy Goranson as Becky Conner-Healy, Sara Gilbert as Darlene Conner, Michael Fishman as D.J. Conner, Emma Kenney as Harris Conner-Healy, Ames McNamara as Mark Conner-Healy and Jayden Rey as Mary Conner.
Barr is an executive producer, along with Sara Gilbert, Tom Werner, Bruce Helford, Whitney Cummings and Tony Hernandez.
Roseanne on ABC ✔ @RoseanneOnABC You asked for it! #Roseanne is getting another season! 2:00 PM - Mar 30, 2018
I’m curious to see if this show (though full of leftist causes) has any effect on President Trump’s approval ratings. If it does cause his ratings to go up at all, it’s kind of good but kind of sad at the same time.
With Sara Gilbert as a c0-executive producer, how long will she allow a conservative bend to the show???
ABC will dump Roseanne as soon as some camera hog pretends her feelings are hurt.
As long as it’s making money.
I haven’t seen the show, but I get the feeling that the only conservative bend to it is a democrat who supports President Trump. Not so much conservative as a rogue Trump voter. Now if the boy who dresses like a girl realizes what a freakish thing that is and smartens up, well, that’s some good progress.
I haven’t seen it either...Just what I’ve heard that it had a conservative bend...Maybe what they were referring to is really the way you stated it...Thanks...
Maybe I’ll watch it next week. I suspect the interest of many has been piqued with the coverage it got and the ratings will go even higher next week. If THAT doesn’t send a message, nothing will.
I did watch some of the old one...I thought it was pretty good...
They might want to wait and see how the reboot does. Many of the viewers for Ep1 were likely curiosity viewers.
The reboot of Will & Grace did fine for the first few episodes, but it is sort of struggling in the ratings now.
I watched the original Roseanne but quit during the last 2 seasons. It just was not able to maintain the humor.
Have no interest in this at all. Rosie isnt conservative at all. Anyone remember her disrespect national anthem? She hasnt changed. Stop making stupid people famous.
Everyone quit watching after the Connors won the lottery.
She won’t. She’s the one who talked Roseanne into it. Why would she break the egg of the golden goose.
You have no idea what you are talking about. And I think she has been replaced by Fergie as the worst rendition of the National Anthem. She has been a Republican (not Conservative) stalwart standing up for Trump in Hollywood because she doesn’t give a damn. I respect her for that.
Can’t wait to watch that one. I never watched her show before, but I will record and watch now.
Just from a practical standpont, 21 years is a long time off the air when bringing a series back with the original cast -- y'know, people die over the course of 21 years. I stand amazed -- also amazed that ABC (Already Been Community-organized) is so fired up about this. I wonder if anyone can explain the connection to Whitney Cummings (executive producer), that's not a good fit. Is it merely because her standup is most similar to Roseanne's? Thanks EdnaMode.
Would be hard to measure, but certain not to hurt.
Yep. People here forget this. Not all Trump voters are conservative. President Trump himself isn't really a conservative!
A large segment of Trump voters remain on the sidelines of the culture wars. If they have an opinion one way or the other about abortion or gay marriage, they don't have the luxury of caring about it. They're too busy trying to keep their heads above water.
Shut up.
LAUGH OR I KILL THIS CAT!
