I'm feeling like hearing some interesting music that I've never heard before, so I thought I'd start a thread on FReeper's favorite underrated bands. Post several good examples of their music and why you feel they're underrated. Should be fun.

I know LA punk very well and love X. Here’s one of the very first videos ever to appear on MTV and to me it was hypnotic, I’d never heard or seen anything like it.

That’s actually Social D covering “Ring Of Fire” which is very cool so no harm no foul, lol.
Although individually each was very well-known, the Traveling Wilburys comprised of George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne were underappreciated and IMO really excellent. They were such a pleasant contrast to the garbage that was on the air at the time.

There is one group that has appeared before more crowds of 50,000 in Africa, and more crowds of 50,000 in Asia, and in Europe and the Americas ... and more crowds over 20,000 on every continent (except Antartica) ... and holds the record for the most in the 50s, and holds the record for the most in the 60s, and the most for the record in the 70s, and in the 80s, and in the 90s.
They were an in-person and TV group. Not much in records. My parents were one of the 17 who actually bought their record ... On Zion’s Hill.
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Team holds the records worldwide. Two Sundays ago, wordlwide, more people sang the song the song they made famous, HOW GREAT THOU ART than any other song has been sung in the same day. This will happen again in May. It happens every year. The song most sung concurrently is from this group that holds all records for in-person appearances. .... and the group was protestant but many millions singing HOW GREAT THOU ART are Catholic.
