I don’t find it morbid or anything like that. Problem is that you’ve got to store it somewhere until it’s needed. I’m surprised IKEA hasn’t come out with an assemble it yourself coffin yet (have they?)...
I think I remember seeing somewhere where you can help save the earth by buying a biodegradable coffin made from recycled cardboard.
Yeah i’m not going the “earth friendly” route. Call me selfish, but i think i get SOME say in how it all goes down.
(The earth isn’t going to give a damn about me.)

Drill the inside for adjustable shelves and use it for a bookcase until needed.
LOL, Ikea coffin! You know how every product has a strange name applied...I just put in a collapsible table called “Norberg”...maybe they will call the coffin product “Jord”...:)
Then, you could assemble it, and sleep in it like Queequeg!
look up coffins and monasteries and you will find several versions.
I'd rather be cremated than have my body consumed by night crawlers and other nasty bugs.....
Many cemeteries require the coffin to be in a concrete vault (box). Why? If the coffin deteriorates the ground will sink. (This is not the sinking caused by the fill dirt settling.)
