This is every ATM customer’s worst nightmare
Harrowing bank surveillance footage shows the moment a teen murder suspect approached an unwitting ATM customer from behind — seconds before the bloodied victim collapsed in a parking lot.
The footage shows Marcine Bernard Hill, 17, calmly approaching an ATM in North Miami Beach in November. Clad in a black Ecko jacket emblazoned with the words “Kill Batman,” Hill saunters up behind victim Dillon Bud Calvin Steve, who turns around to notice Hill at the last moment.
Steve, 26, quickly glances at his mother’s van in the parking lot before dropping the cash and lunging at Hill. He’s then seen grasping his chest while staggering toward the van before collapsing. He later died at a hospital.
The Miami Herald reports that the footage was released by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office as a grand jury indicted Hill earlier this month on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery.

Never, ever get money from a bank ATM, even during the day. If you need money, go buy something at a grocery store and get cash back. Limits are at least $100.
I finally convinced my wife to use her iPhone bank app to deposit checks. It’s secure and there is no chance a thug is going to follow her home. If she needs cash from her account, I go to the local big name grocery store to get it for her; but never at night.

That is the something I trained my wife to do, get extra cash whenever we buy something. I really do hate the ATMs, especially knowing that everything is right there on a camera.
However, having said that, at least there was video here and the defense is going to have a real fun time trying to get the video thrown out.

I am reading an excellent book titled: “The Gift of Fear”.
The negative about the book was apparent to me in the first chapter when the author compared homicide rates in the USA (the most ethnically and racially diverse country in the world) to homicide rates in Japan (one of the most homogeneous countries,large or small in the world)
He makes that comparison while talking about violent crime and its usually unconscious detection in advance by our “intuition”.
There is other good information in it, though.
The basic premise is that we deny our intuition and prefer logic, but our intuition is among the most finely tuned aspects of our minds.
The author gave an interesting example: We value a dog’s intuition over our own. He talks about a woman who had a contractor come to give an estimate on a job, and her dog growled at the guy the entire time. She found out later the estimates he gave her were dishonest, but said to the author “I should have known...my dog is a good judge of people, and he didn’t like the guy, growling at him.”
The author told her that her dog certainly knew nothing about contracting practices or charlatans, but her dog was most definitely an astute observer of her, and was picking up on her dislike of the guy and his process that she didn’t even realize she was feeling, much less transmitting in any way that her dog could pick up on.
So the nypost didn’t bother to tell us that a black street savage attacked an innocent White. All part of the plan - eliminate Whitey, after taking all his money.
Bottom line: It looks like the victim knew he was at risk as he glances at that small mirror they put on ATMs but we’re not allowed to own the #1 thug repellent on earth are we.

Open carry may have deterred the attack, but he was surprised. A concealed weapon probably wouldn’t have helped.
In this case giving up the money probably would have been the best defense.

Here, it's crazy not to do normal things, like going to an ATM when it's convenient for you.
This is one of the reasons I am such a big fan of having a bank operation INSIDE a grocery store. SAFER.
