Those who support the idea of a universal basic income are class clueless, former Vice President Joe Biden said in an interview Wednesday.
Universal basic income, a program that would guarantee a minimum income for all Americans, has been gaining popularity as job displacement due to advances in technology continue. A recent Gallup poll found 48 percent of Americans support a universal basic income for workers who are replaced by artificial intelligence.
But Biden, who is rumored to be eyeing a presidential run in 2020, said he does not believe thats the way America is built. Instead, its a concept created by Silicon Valley executives who are missing the point, he said on Crooked Medias Pod Save America, which is hosted by former Obama staffers.
Every time someone would lose a job, my dad would say, You know, Joey, a job is about a lot more than a paycheck. Its about dignity, its about respect. Its about your place in the community. Its about being able to look your kid in the eye and saying, Honey, its going to be OK. Thats what its about. Dignity, he said. Getting an annual wage, you sit home and do nothing. You strip people of their dignity.

Then obama and biden stipped a lot of people of their dignity.
Same here. I retired last year. I started working at age 9 with a newspaper route in 1959. I work part time from home now and get called in regularly to work because the new people can’t figure out how to do out I did. I do enjoy the extra time I have now as I am able to go out target practicing with my revolvers whenever I get the whim.
Meanwhile, Pelosi would call that freeing people from “job lock”. (Remember that one?)
We’re two peas in a pod.
Yep. Sos being a senator
Never stopped him from raking in the illicit dough
Obama was against gay marriage, until he was for it ...
Ive been in a lot of locker rooms, you know...Ive been aroundSlow Joe
><
Yeah, he dropped the soap a lot.
[I started working when I was 15 and worked EVERY DAY of my life until I was 67. Ive been retired for a year and a half. The hardest thing for me to get used to is NOT waking up and going to work. Sometimes I wish I hadnt let the wife and family members talk me into retiring.]
Get involved with something, soon. You are going against your instincts you have lived by all your life. It will start affecting your entire outlook on life. It sounds like you are not feeling useful. Maintain a routine.
48% are for guranteed income. They don’t work. When the number hits 50.1% is when socialism fails.
Thanks. My wife and son kind of knew that I needed to do something so we sold our house in Arizona and moved to Texas in December. I’ve been working my butt off since then.
An orchestrated volleyball for Biden set up by his allies in the media. This allows him a talking point for later on when accused of being too left wing without actually having to forfeit any ground on liberal policies in place.
Used to be against lines of credit from the “Bank of China” too. And then he found that $10 trillion.
People that have a great deal of money like Joe usually have the luxury to have this opinion.
I was for it before I was against it.
Depends who’s dignity the dumb ass is talking about. The SOB doesnt seem to mind that millions of illegals flood the country to take jobs that the legal citizens could do.
Wanna talk about good wages Joe? Or are you so stupid to understand even that?
Run, Joe, run!!!! Please!!!
If Biden won - at that very second he would ‘pivot’ toward Washington and turn his back on the country. Everyone in DC would get a raise and corruption and graft would flow like water over Niagara... The country would get the finger.
a universal basic income for workers who are replaced by artificial intelligence. ................................. Errr? Don’t the AIs need daily maintenance and repair? Which AI will take care of that? Seems to me they will need HI, with I to keep them functional and running properly.
I worked at the unemployment office for twenty years. Employers pay the taxes that fund unemployment insurance.
