...And when people like this repeatedly slam us, I see that as trolling. If I found myself on a thread where everyone believed in something I found ridiculous, I would just leave the thread and not hang around insulting people.

Back when I was responding to trolls I would say,”Don’t go away mad, just go away.” Regretfully it just doesn’t seem to work in a permanent manner. Have you heard the saying about a dog returning to his vomit? - If you get my full drift.
IMO, the best policy is to just ignore them.
