If you think about it, Perot and Romney both exited their races prior to the finish line. Bush may have been the spoil Regan agreed to swallow to cross the line. Trump seems to have disagreed with that history. God bless him.

I don’t think that was true of Romney. I went to a rally for him a day or two before the election and I remember there being a big push to drag him over the finish line. I remember McCain “quitting” before election day. I thought he did everything he could to lose the election.

Not defending Romney as a good guy. I don’t know what to think about him - so many people I used to think were good guys have turned out not to be. But I will say that what I witnessed during his campaign doesn’t match what you’re describing. I’ll stick with facts. Maybe there are other facts that are more supportive of your assertion, but not in my personal experience or recollection.

Mike Pence certainly doesn’t carry the baggage around the Bush 1 did. To Bush 1 the truth is something one manipulates(remember-no new taxes). For Mike Pence, as a believer, God is the author of truth and truth is a hill to take a stand on.
