Per US News & World Report:
NOT REAL NEWS: No Court Order for Obama to Pay $400 Million
NOT REAL NEWS: No court ordered former president Obama to pay $400 million in "restitution" to the U.S. government.
"An online story falsely claims a federal appeals court ordered former President Barack Obama to pay $400 million in "restitution" to the United States for money supposedly lost in a transaction with "hard-liners" in Iran.
The Daily World Update article cites a nonexistent West Texas Federal Appeals Court for the 33rd District; there is no federal appeals court in Texas. It names three people as federal judges who are not on the U.S. bench: Gary Jones, Amanda Perry and Kris Weinshenker.
The story includes made-up quotes from the fictional judges' opinion that disparage Obama. The site identifies itself as a conservative satire outlet.">I> March 25, 2018, at 7:32 a.m.
So it’s a hot sheet? Zero really does have to cough up $400mil?
Thank you again, TXnMA! I did see that, and while I think the reporting in this case is accurate, I consider US News and World Report to be under control of the black hats, and therefore not definitive.
I think the evidence is piling up to indicate the story is not accurate. Not definitively yet, but close. Greeneyes has just posted upthread a good background piece on the money issues between US and Iran from back in the 70s.
