Most interesting find. Thank you for posting.

Like others here, I’m a student of the time and hadn’t heard of the Graf before this.

An interesting sidenote for the Swabbies, the SMS/USS Prinz Eugen has it’s own interesting story. As mentioned in this story, it provided artillery support for withdrawing German ground troops. It also sailed with the Bismark and ultimately ended up a war prize and was won by the US drawing lots with the Brits and Soviets (it became the USS Prinz Eugen). The Navy sailed it to Bikini Atoll for nuclear tests. It rests today at Kwajalein Atoll where it leaks oil alongside the Reagan Test Site. Evidently it survived the nuclear blast(s) and was towed to the Atoll and sunk.

Interesting about the Prinz Eugen. Two hits with atomic weapons and she survived in otherwise good condition.

It's funny that the American crew could not operate her. The Germans are famous for making things overly complicated but reliable.
