in another article they mention he had a blog where spoke against gay marriage. I’m wondering if he wasn’t closeted. Struggling with homosexuality, especially if you’re a man, can turn you to dirka dirka jihad. Just a hunch.

I wonder if he had a father figure in his life? In Dec 2012, his mother posts "I just married!" - which implies she was a single mother for some period of time prior to that, perhaps many years.

His biological father was not completely out of the picture though. Reportedly in the past year, his father co-built a house with him that the perp was now living in.

The mother home-schooled 4 children, including a daughter a year or two younger than the perp who was into gymnastics. On Feb 19, 2013 she posted the photo of him that was the first photo widely seen on the web, with these comments:

"I officially graduated Mark from High School on Friday. 1 down, 3 to go. He has 30 hrs of college credit too, but he’s thinking of taking some time to figure out what he wants to do ... maybe a mission trip. Thanks to everyone for your support over the years."

So that's where the MSM gets the "Christian" part from, namely that his Christian home-schooling mother, over 5 years ago, hoped he would "maybe do a mission trip" after graduation.
