I agree the range is an issue.
Perhaps, the issue.
I would I change the styling so that it looks less like a sports bike and instead looks like something for doing errands on the weekend or slepping back and forth to work. A rack for a briefcase, a windscreen maybe panniers to allow you to carry a bit.
Bicycle commuters have very different looking bikes than racer guys. I would think motorcycle riders might have the same vibe. My Triathlon bike weighs 17 pounds with 23-millimeter tires, the errand bicycle weighs 32 pounds, including racks, fenders and such, with heavier wheels that mount 40-millimeter tires. It also has a much more upright riding position and lower gearing. Different machines for different things. One is for going 27 mph the other for 17 mph.
The Tesla model of entering the market at the very high end proved successful and one thing no one can argue with is the instantaneous torque and attendant acceleration of an electric motor of sufficient size. They’re going about it in the right way. There are already plenty of utilitarian two-wheeled grocery-getters and electric bicycles. Those are not Harley Davidson’s market and even trying to do that would severely damage their brand.
